History

Conry Tech was founded by Ron Conry and Sam Ringwaldt in 2019 so they could once again work together to develop and market new HVAC products. Ron has been in the HVAC industry for almost 55 years, and is well known globally for his remarkable contributions to the industry. Ron invented the world’s first modular chiller, and the world’s first oil-free, magnetic bearing centrifugal compressor. Both of these products changed the industry in a major way, and are now dominant technologies globally. Sam has spent 20 years helping develop and launch innovative HVAC technologies around the world.

Ron and Sam first met in 2002, just as Ron Conry was bringing one of his best-known inventions, the Turbocor oil-free, magnetic bearing, centrifugal compressor, to market. Sam was working for a large HVAC mechanical contractor in Melbourne, Australia, at the time, and was involved with one of the first commercial installations of this compressor in the world. In late 2003, Sam joined Ron’s company to help develop their business in North America, and then spent 2 years promoting the technology around North America, which accomplished their goal of saturating the market with knowledge about this revolutionary compressor. Sam then spent another year training manufacturers from all over the world how to develop oil-free chillers, before parting ways with Ron in order to return to Australia, whilst Ron relocated to Tallahassee Florida with Danfoss Turbocor where he continued to develop additional compressors within the Turbocor range. Sam joined Smardt Chillers in 2006, where he helped to develop, market, sell and support an extensive range of chillers using the Turbocor compressor, assisting Smardt expand from being a small Australian company with just 50 chillers installed, to becoming a global chiller manufacturer with more than 7500 chillers installed globally. Sam relocated with his family to Singapore in 2010 to set up an Asian HQ for Smardt, from which Sam was successful in getting the first oil-free chillers installed in virtually every Asian country, helping Smardt continue to grow significantly until his departure to establish Conry Tech. Sam has also been heavily involved in supporting the growth of the Data Centre Industry throughout Asia, through applying his knowledge to provide advanced cooling system for many of the data centres throughout the region.

Ron’s ability to find solutions, develop ground-breaking revolutionary technologies, and build up successful international manufacturing businesses, such as Multistack through Ron’s modular chillers, and Danfoss Turbocor with Ron’s Turbocor compressor, is complemented by Sam’s ability to strategically develop businesses and products to gain rapid, wide spread acceptance in the marketplace, by both governments and the private sector around the world. Their skills are extremely complimentary, and Conry Tech believe that this combination will ensure that the new technologies they are developing will be highly successful in the market, as they understand what the market needs, what the market wants, and what features will be needed in the products they develop. The world is changing rapidly, and the demand for more sustainable solutions is continuously growing, and yet the HVAC industry is moving too slowly in response. This has driven Ron and Sam to join together once again, as they believe that their expertise, and passion will drive Conry Tech to succeed in developing products that will continue to push the HVAC industry forward in order to deliver a more sustainable future.
